SCRATCH PROGRAMMING QUARTER THREE

Musical Fish

Fish are dumb. They don't have very large brains, but that doesn't mean you can't teach them something!

Check out the code for this project. Inspect the list item called instruments and see how it works with the variable called inst to help the fish to know what instrument is being played.

ASSIGNMENT:

Enhance the sample project in the following ways:

  1. Draw your own original fish.
  2. Add all the instruments in Scratch to the list of instruments.
  3. Pick another song to be played instead of "Frere Jacques." That song gets really annoying after hardly anytime at all.
  4. Suggested songs you might try which should be easy to find online include: "My Country Tis of Thee," "American, the Beautiful," "God Bless America," or "The Star Spangled Banner." You are free to try other songs as well. Just don't try finding an extremely short song as a shortcut.
  5. As the song plays have bubbles come out of the fish's mouth and rise to the top of the screen area. Five bubbles of different size would be about right. Just recycle them when they hit the top of the screen area.
