SCRATCH PROGRAMMING QUARTER TWO

Story with Graphic Effects

Don't worry too much about the short story about the puppy. What is important here is the way the buttons are used by the person who checks out the project to make stuff happen. Not a lot actually happens, but it should be clear that there is a lot that can be done with buttons. If you've ever made a PowerPoint type of presentation you will be able to recognize how the same kind of presentation can be created using Scratch.

Assignment:

Alter and extend the sample project in the following ways:

  1. Write your own original short story and make it approximately the same length as the one shown in the example.
  2. Instead of arranging the buttons along the bottom of the page, arrange them along the right side of the page.
  3. Include a button that changes the background color in your project. However, this button and the other buttons you will create will all be ovals which are wider than they are tall.
  4. You will create four different buttons to proceed to the next page, but each one will get there in a different way.
  5. Method One: Scroll the current page down off bottom and scroll new down from top.
  6. Method Two: Old page disappears and new page appears.
  7. Method Three: Whirl old page so that it scrambles and whirl new page in so that it can be seen. (In other words, new page starts whirled and becomes clear.)
  8. Method Four: Shrink old page down to nothing and grow new page to full size.
