Lesson Ninety-nine: Converting Improper Fractions To Mixed Numbers

Here's a review of converting fractions to mixed numbers:

Converting Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers
There are three steps:
1. Divide the numerator by the denominator.
2. The quotient is your whole number.
3. The remainder is your numerator. Remember to reduce if necessary.

REMEMBER TO REDUCE IF NECESSARY!

Example:

Improper Fraction: 32/10.
Step One: 32 divided by 10 equals 3 with a remainder of 2.
Step Two: The quotient was 3, so you use this as the whole number.
Step Three: The remainder was 2, so this is your new numerator.
Reduce: 2/10 can be reduced to 1/5.
Mixed Number: 3 1/5.
