Lesson One Hundred-six: Adding Mixed Numbers
Here's yet another example:
Sample Problem: 2 3/10 +
4 1/6.
Step One: Find LCD. The LCD of 10 and 6 is 30.
Step Two: Convert fractions. Change 3/10 to 9/30 and change
1/6 to 5/30.
Step Three: Add whole numbers.
2 9/30 + 4 5/30 =
6 + 9/30 + 5/30.
Step Four: Add the fractions.
6 + 14/30.
Step Five:
Reduce the fraction (if necessary) 6 7/15.
ANSWER: 6 7/15.
