Arithmetic Grade Six

Lesson One Hundred Twenty-seven: Word Problems

There is an art to solving word problems. They usually aren't all that difficult as long as you read them carefully and think about them. Sometimes drawing an illustration of the word problem helps you to solve them. Here's a sample word problem:

Joe collects cans around town every Saturday morning. This
week he found 44 in the town park, 15 down by the river, and
32 at the baseball field. How many cans did he find in all?

This problem is pretty easy. All you have to do is add up the number of cans found at each location and you have your answer.

	44 + 15 + 32 = 91
