Lesson One Hundred Seventy-two: Circumference and Area

To find the area of a circle use the following formula:

	AREA = PI * r2

In English this formula reads: "The area of a circle equals PI multiplied by the radius squared."

Here's an example:

  Find the area of the following circle:

  AREA = PI * 242 = 3.14 * 576 = 1808.64 square units

Here's another example:

  Find the area of the following circle:

  AREA = PI * 162 = 3.14 * 256 = 803.84 square units
