Arithmetic Grade Six

Lesson One Hundred Sixty-six: X Problems Two

Here's a slightly different version of X Problem for you to solve:

To solve this kind of problem you need to think of combinations of numbers which will add up to the top number and multiply to produce the bottom number. Here are some possibilities:

	SUM of 19 MULTIPLYING
	  1 + 18 1 * 18 = 18
	  2 + 17 2 * 17 = 34
	  3 + 16 3 * 16 = 54
	  4 + 15 4 * 15 = 60
	  5 + 14 5 * 14 = 70
	  6 + 13 6 * 13 = 78
	  7 + 12 7 * 12 = 84
	  8 + 11 8 * 11 = 88
	  9 + 10 9 * 10 = 90

As you can see, one of these number combinations will work for this X Problem.
