Arithmetic Grade Six

Lesson One Hundred Sixty-two: Functions

Here are some function examples involving multiplication. Remember you just "plug" the input value into the spot taken by the question mark.
INPUTFUNCTION: ? x 5 OUTPUT
5 5 x 5 25
10 10 x 5 50
15 15 x 5 75
20 20 x 5 100

This function tells us to take the input number and multiply it by five. The number "plugged" into the function is shown in magenta in this example.

Here's another example:
INPUT FUNCTION: ? x ? OUTPUT
5 5 x 5 25
10 10 x 10 100
2 2 x 2 4
7 7 x 7 49

Now you get to try a few of these yourself.
