What are the factors of 24?

     1 x 24 = 24
     2 x 12 = 24
     3 x  8 = 24
     4 x  6 = 24

This set of numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24) are the factors of 24.

What are all the factors of 18?


     1 x 18 = 18
     2 x  9 = 18
     3 x  6 = 18

This set of numbers (1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18) are the factors of 18.

Which of the following is a factor of 16?

  1. 3
  2. 5
  3. 4
  4. 15
The correct answer is 4. There are no whole numbers which we can multiply 3, 5, or 16 by and get a product of 16.
