Here's another X Problem before the slots have been filled:




Here is the same X Problem with the slots correctly filled.



To get the top answer we add 7 and -9 and we get -2 because 7 + -9 = -2.

To get the bottom answer we multiply 7 and -9 and we get -63 because 7 x -9 = -63.


Remember these rules for multiplying signed numbers:

  positive x positive = positive
  positive x negative = negative
  negative x positive = negative
  negative x negative = positive
