Arithmetic Grade Six

Lesson Sixty-six: Decimal Subtraction

Here's another sample problem:

      3.41
    - .56
   ---------

To complete this problem we will first have to do the following:
  1. Subtract the digits in the hundredths column
  2. Subtract the digits in the tenths column
But before you can subtract we must borrow.

      2 13 11
      3.41
    - .56
   ---------
      2.85

The decimal point drops straight down from the problem to the answer.
