Remember these rules when rounding to the nearest 1000th:
Consider the following examples:
3.6665 -> 3.667 2.5331 -> 2.533 1.9329 -> 1.933 2.3335 -> 2.334 2.9122 -> 2.912 .9325 -> .933
Rules for rounding:
1. If the digit in the ten-thousandths column is 4 or less round down. Example:
.4442 -> .444.
2. If the digit in the ten-thousandths column is 5 or more round up. Example:
.4445 -> .445.
Special Case:
If you have a number like 4.9995 you have to remember that it will have to round up to 5.000. Many times students are confused by this situation.

4.4324 -> 4.432 6.7179 -> 6.718 7.8218 -> 7.822 1.2423 -> 1.242 2.3455 -> 2.346 1.3325 -> 1.333
