Lesson Forty: Word Problems

When it gets cold the temperature sometimes goes below zero. We won't discuss the differences between the fahrenhite and the celcius scale in this lesson, but in either case, below zero is cold. So, let's say that the temperature at sunset is 13 degrees and that the temperature drops by 20 degrees by midnight. What is the temperature at midnight?

	13 - 20 = -7

Now let's say that that the temperature just before sunrise is -12 degrees and that the temperature goes up by 10 degrees by 10 o'clock. What is the temperature at 10 o'clock?

	-12 + 10 = -2

Most places that people live don't get this cold very often, but it happens in some places some of the time!
