Lesson Thirty-nine: X Problems


The rules of X Problems can change, but in this lesson you put the sum of the two side numbers in the top slot and their difference in the bottom slot.

Here's an X Problem before the slots have been filled:




Here is the same X Problem with the slots correctly filled.



To get the top answer we add -9 and 4 and we get -5 because -9 + 4 = -5.

To get the bottom answer we subtract -9 and 4 and we get -13 because -9 - 4 = -13.

You will practice some basic addition and subtraction with signed numbers.
