Arithmetic Grade Six

Lesson Thirty-one: Subtracting Feet and Inches

Here is a sample subtraction problem with feet and inches:

	3 ft, 5 in
      - 2 ft, 3 in
     --------------
	1 ft, 2 in

This same problem could also be arranged like this:

	3 ft, 5 in + 2 ft, 3 in = 1 ft, 2 in

When subtracting feet and inches, you simply subtract the feet from each other and you subtract the inches from each other. The feet and inches remain separate.

Here's another sample problem:

	  4 ft, 7 in
	- 3 ft, 3 in
       --------------
	  1 ft, 4 in
