Arithmetic Grade Six

Lesson Twenty-nine: Converting Feet and Inches

Of course, sometimes we have problems that don't come out all nice and even. Sometimes we have to use both feet and inches:

Convert 43 inches to feet and inches:

	ANSWER: 3 feet, 7 inches.

To get this answer we divided 43 by 12 which equals 3 with a remainder of 7. The main answer is the feet and the remainder is the inches.

Here's another problem:

Convert 55 inches to feet and inches:

	THINK: 55 divided by 12 equals 4 remainder 7.

	ANSWER: 4 feet, 7 inches.

Here's one more example:

Convert 100 inches to feet and inches:

	THINK: 100 divided by 12 equals 8 remainder 4.

	ANSWER: 8 feet, 4 inches.
