Lesson One hundred and Thirty-six: Percents

You can use information about percents to figure out other things: 


	FAVORITE DESSERTS:

	  Pie 		40%
	  Ice Cream	30%
  	  Candy		20%
	  Pudding	10%

	TOTAL DESSERT EATERS: 100

	QUESTION: How many people picked ice cream as their
		  favorite dessert?

	PROBLEM: 100 * 30% = 30.

	ANSWER: 30 dessert eaters.
Here's another example: 

	FAVORITE COLOR:

	  Red		30%
	  Green		25%
	  Blue		20%
	  Yellow	15%
	  Other		10%

	TOTAL COLOR SURVEY PARTICIPANTS: 300.

	QUESTION:  How many people picked blue as their
		   favorite color?

	PROBLEM: 300 * 20% = 60.

	ANSWER: 60.
