Lesson One hundred and Twenty-four: Rounding to Nearest 100th

Rounding to the nearest 100th is only slightly different from rounding to the nearest 10th. Here are a few examples:

  1.221 ->  1.22	1.356 -> 1.36		33.444 -> 33.44

  3.555 ->  3.56	2.032 -> 2.03		4.111 -> 4.11

  5.677 ->  5.68	2.932 -> 2.93		9.888 -> 9.89

Rules for rounding to nearest 100th :
  1. If the number in the thousandths column is 4 or less round down. Example: 4.533 -> 4.53.
  2. If the number in the thousandths column is 5 or more round up. Example: 1.435 -> 1.44.
Special Information About the Thousandths Column

The thousandths column is the next column to the right of the hundredths column. In the value 29.843, the digit 3 is in the thousandths column.
