Arithmetic Grade Five

Lesson Fifty-four: Decimal Multiplication

There is no limit to the amount of numbers you can multiply together, but we will keep it down to five numbers like this:

	.4 x .2 x .1 x .3 x .2 =
	.08 x .1 x .3 x .2 =
	.008 x .3 x .2 =
	.0024 x .2 =
	.00048

We can combine steps as in the following example:

	.3 x .5 x .2 x .4 x .6 =
	.15 x .2 x .24 =
	.15 x .048 =
	.00720 =
	.0072

Here's another example:

	.7 x .2 x .4 x .8 x .3 =
	.14 x .32 x .3 =
	.14 x .096 =
	.01344
