Lesson Seventy-nine: Computing Averages with Decimals

Calculating averages with decimals is just like calculating averages without decimals, except you have to keep track of the decimal point (which usually isn't very difficult). Here's an example:

    FIND THE AVERAGE OF: .6, .4, .5, .6, .5, .4

    STEP ONE: .6 + .4 + .5 + .6 + .5 + .4 = 3.0

    STEP TWO: 3.0 / 6 = .5

Here's another example:

     Compute the average: 2.1, 2.4, 2.2, 2.3, 2.2, 2.0.

     STEP ONE: 2.1 + 2.4 + 2.2 + 2.3 + 2.2 + 2.0 = 13.2

     STEP TWO: 13.2 / 6 = 2.2

You get to try a few for yourself on the next page.
