Lesson Seventy-six: Decimal Division

Dividing with a three digit divisor is a little tougher than working with a two digit divisor, but the same basic steps are still used:

	        .036
	     +------
100 | 3.600 Remember that the decimal point in
0 0 the answer is written directly
------- above the decimal point in the
3 60 dividend. In this problem a zero
3 00 is the first digit to the right
------- of the decimal point. Without
600 the zero in this spot the answer
		 600 would be wrong.
	       -------
	           0
Here's another problem to consider:

	       .2 STEPS:
	   +------- 1. 480/200=4
       200 | 48.00 2. 200x2=400
	     400 3. 480-400=80
	    ------ 4. bring down the 0
	      8 00 5. 800/200=4
	      8 00 6. 200x4=800
	    ------- 7. 800-800=0 (done)
	         0
