Lesson Thirty-one: Negative Numbers


The positive numbers are those numbers with values greater than zero. The negative numbers have values which are less than zero. Study the following table:

As you can see you can say the name for -4 as "four below zero" or as "negative four." To say it another way, -4 is four less than zero. On the next page is an activity which asks you to respond with a negative number given one of the names for a negative number. Here's an example:
