The addends are the numbers in an addition problem that you add together to produce the sum. Study these examples:
ADDENDS | SUM |
5 + 4 = | 9 |
7 + 1 = | 8 |
3 + 2 = | 5 |
Naturally, you can reverse the order of SUM and ADDENDS like this:
SUM | ADDENDS |
9 = | 5 + 4 |
8 = | 7 + 1 |
5 = | 3 + 2 |
ADDENDS |
5 +3 --- |
SUM |
8 |
