    Factors of 12: ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 )

What is the prime factorization of 12?

    Prime Factorization of 12 = 2 x 2 x 3

The prime factorization of 12 is the group of prime numbers that can be multiplied together to get a product of 12.

The prime factorization of any number is the group of prime numbers whose product is that number. Here's another example using the prime factorizaton of 20.


    Prime Factorization of 20 = 2 x 2 x 5

(NOTE: You can't use one as a factor in a prime factorization of a number.)
