Lesson Seventy-six: Converting Improper Fractions To Mixed Numbers

Example:
Improper Fraction: 31/6.
Step One: 31 divided by 6 equals 5 with a remainder of 1.
Step Two: The quotient was 5, so you use this as the whole number.
Step Three: The remainder was 1, so this is your new numerator.
Mixed Number: 5 1/6.
Special Case Example:
Improper Fraction: 25/5.
Step One: 25 divided by 5 equals 5 with no remainder.
Step Two: The quotient was 5, so you use this as the whole number.
Step Three: The remainder was 0, so we just leave off the fraction part.
Mixed Number: 5.
