Lesson Seventy-four: Ordering Fractions

Here's a problem for you to try to solve: 

    Which of the following fractions fit between 1/2 and 3/4?

      A. 1/3
      B. 2/5
      C. 2/3
      D. 7/8
The correct answer is C. All the other answers are either less than 1/2 or greater than 3/4. To find the answer for yourself, you would have to compare each possible answer with 1/2 and 3/4. That's a lot of comparing, but that's what you've got to do.

Here's another problem for you to try. 


    Which of the following fractions fit between 1/8 and 1/4?

      A. 1/2
      B. 1/3
      C. 1/10
      D. 3/4
The correct answer is B. 1/2 and 3/4 are clearly larger than 1/4. 1/10 is clearly less than 1/8.
