Arithmetic Grade Four
Lesson Eighty-one: Adding Fractions
Adding fractions is easy as long as the two fractions you're adding have the
same denominator. Providing that both fractions have the same denominator,
all you have to do is add the top numbers. Here are some examples:
Adding Fractions With Like Denominators
- Numerator: Just add the top numbers.
- Denominator: Leave the bottom numbers alone.
Here are a few more examples:
1/3 + 1/3 = 2/3 2/8 + 3/8 = 5/8
4/9 + 3/9 = 7/9 2/7 + 4/7 = 6/7
Now you get to try a few for yourself.
