Lesson One hundred fifty-four: Fractions and Decimals


Here are some decimal values with two digits following the decimal point.

     .55		.41		.03

     .20		.25		.99

The first digit after the decimal point is called the tenths column. The next digit is called the hundredths.

Study the following pictures:
This first picture illustrates the fraction value 5/100. We can re-write the fraction 5/100 as an equivalent decimal value .05. It's very important that you put a zero in the tenths column since .5 is equal to 5/10 which is equal to 50/100 (remember equivalent fractions?).
