Lesson One hundred and two: Multiplication Tables


Speed and accuracy are very important when it comes to knowing your multiplication facts. It should be much faster for you to see a problem and think of the answer than for you to use a calculator to find the answer. In other words, you should be able to recall the answer to a multiplication fact much faster than you can punch the buttons on a calculator and have the calculator give you the answer!

   5 x 6 = 30		7 x 6 = 42		8 x 8 = 64

   3 x 9 = 27		9 x 4 = 36		7 x 4 = 28

   6 x 4 = 24		8 x 7 = 56		7 x 7 = 49

Often you will see the basic multiplication facts presented in a multiplication table:

In case you don't recall how to use a multiplication table: To find the product of 5 x 6, you put a finger from your left hand on the 5 on the left hand side of the table and you put a finger from your right hand on the 6 at the top of the table and trace across and down until you come to the cell where they intersect. You should land in a cell containing 30.
