Lesson Thirty-seven: Regrouping Practice

Sometimes regrouping in the ones column is called carrying a one to the tens column. When you carry a "ONE TO THE TENS COLUMN" you need to remember that a one in the tens column is worth TEN (since it's in the tens column).

Adding the 5 and 6 in the ones column we get 11. We take the 1 from 11 and place it in the ones column of the answer and we carry the 1 above the tens column above the addends.

We add up the 1, 5, and 2 in the tens column.
