Arithmetic Grade One

Lesson One hundred forty-four: Dimes and Pennies

Adding Coins

  + + = 12 ¢

  + + = 21 ¢

  + + + + = 23 ¢

NOTE: Suggest to the student that the best method to solve these problems is to count by tens to get the total value for the dimes and then to add the number of pennies to this subtotal. Using actual dimes and pennies make a few practice problems for the student to solve before going on to the activity.
