Explain that one half can be written with numbers and a line as 1/2. Do the
same for one third and one fourth. Explain that in each group of circles on
this page one circle is red and the others are yellow. Explain that the
bottom number in a fraction represents the total number in the group. Have
the student practice writing 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4.
