Lesson Forty-six: Minus


Minus

You start with 7 and take away 4. How many are left?
ANSWER: 3
You start with 7 and take away 2. How many are left?
ANSWER: 5

NOTE: Point out the word "minus" in the examples (and in the title of this lesson). Explain that it means the same as "take away." For instance, explain that "6 minus 3" means the same as "6 take away 3" which means the same as "6 - 3." The student doesn't need to be able to spell the word "minus," but the student should be able to recognize the word.
