Arithmetic Grade One

Lesson Sixty-eight: Addition

Addition

				 3
  3 + 4 = 7 +4
				---
				 7

8 8 + 3 = 11 +3 --- 11
NOTE: Explain that an addition problem can be written horizontally or vertically and that the sum remains the same. Don't dwell on the words "vertically" and "horizontally," however. Have the student take horizontally written problems and rewrite them vertically and then find the sum for each problem.
