Prefixes: Over- and Under-

The prefix over- means beyond, higher, upper, or too much. Here are a few words which begin with this prefix:

The prefix under- means less than or below. Here are a few words which begin with this prefix:

	undercover		underwear		underage

Idioms

Idioms are expressions which have a meaning which is not the same as the meaning of its actual words. There are many common idioms which you have probably heard many times. Here are a few examples featuring pets:

sick as a dog				feeling very ill
dog-eared page				corner of page which is folded
barking up the wrong tree		considering the wrong idea

a dog is a man's best friend		dogs are very loyal
my dogs are barking			my feet hurt
underdog				likely loser in a contest
