Prepositions
Prepositions are used to connect a phrase (called a prepositional phrase) to
a sentence. Here are some prepositions:
on by near
under above in
over beneath through
Here some of these prepositions (in bold) used in prepositional phrases
(underlined) in sentences:
The lump of coal is on the table.
I put the fossil under the desk.
There were lots of bats in the mine.
The sun shined through the trees.
