Multiple Meanings

Words can have more than a single meaning. Words can have more than two meanings. Some words have many meanings. Here are some more words with more than one meaning:


  pass:		1) low area between mountains
		2) to go by something

  stamp:	1) postage
		2) step on

  spring:	1) source of water
		2) coil

  meal:		1) ground up grain
		2) time to eat

  mine:		1) belonging to me
		2) tunnel

Here are some of these words used in sentences. Decide which meaning is being used in each case.

  My dad said it was dangerous to enter the abandoned mine.

  The sign said that we couldn't camp near the spring.

  Make sure you put a stamp on your letter.

  The recipe calls for corn meal.
