Analogies

An analogy is a comparison between word pairs that have the same relationship. The best analogy puzzles are those which have only one good answer. Of course, there are often many reasonable answers to an analogy. Consider this example:

South America is to Brazil as North America is to _________.

The possible answers for this analogy include Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

It's better when there is only one reasonable answer to an analogy. Here are some analogies which are pretty good in this way:

Banana is to split as strawberry is to _________.

Lemon is to juice as carrot is to _________.

Prunes are to plums as raisons are to _________.

The roots are to a plant as a cellar is to a _________.

The stem is to a flower as a pole is to a ________.

Green is to leaf as ______ is to sky.

Although you MIGHT be able to think of other reasonable answers for some of these, good answers, presented in order, include: shortcake, cake, grapes, house, flag, and blue.
