Letter Patterns
This list contains several words with the ead and eak letter patterns.
Here are some more words with these letter patterns:
bread spread thread
weak sneak peak
Another letter pattern which occurs a few times in this unit is the ose
letter pattern.
The -ose letter pattern at the end of these words indicate that these are
all names for sugars.
VVC Pattern
A word which contains two vowels followed by a consonant fits the VVC
pattern. Here are a few examples from this unit:
bread spread thread
weak sneak peak
skiing recreation board
In the strictest sense, the VVC applies only to syllables which contain as
the last three letters a vowel, followed by another vowel, followed by a
consonant (and nothing else). In this unit we applied this pattern to any
word which contained two vowels in a row followed by a consonant regardless
of syllables and other ending consonants.
