Adverbs
Adverbs provide more information about HOW something was done. They modify a
verb. Here are some examples (the adverbs are underlined):
Jill quietly poured the water into the cup.
Jack quickly ate his breakfast.
Harry walked down the hall rapidly.
We could remove the adverbs from each of these sentences and the sentences
would still make perfect sense. The adverbs just add a little extra
information which helps us to get a better idea of what actions are being
described in the sentences.
Here are some more commonly used adverbs:
slowly softly courageously
bravely ferociously eagerly
timidly slyly angrily
