Letter Patterns

This list contains several words with the -are letter pattern:

	snare glare rare

	square share

The are letter pattern is most often found at the end of words.

Another letter pattern is berry which is a word all by itself. Here are the words from the list containing berry.

	boysenberry strawberry huckleberry

	raspberry blackberry blueberry

The word cherry ends with the same five letters as does the word berry and so it contains a very similar letter pattern to those in this group.

A syllable is a part of a word that is made up of one vowel sound. The word sound is in bold because sometimes two or more vowels work together to create a single vowel sound. For instance, the word syllable has three syllables (syl-la-ble).

Here are some three-syllable words from this unit:

	strawberry raspberry blackberry

	blueberry irrigate aquatic

There are also some four-syllable words in this unit:

	boysenberry huckleberry agriculture
