Alphabetizing a List
You know that to say that a list is in alphabetical order is the same as
saying that it is in ABC order. Many things are arranged in ABC order:
- the bands names in a rack containing CDs
- the index of a book
- dictionaries
- encyclopedias
- books in a section at a bookstore
- items in a glossary
- names in a telephone directory
There are many other things which arrange words and names in alphabetical
order.
You should be skilled at finding things in alphabetical order and you should be
skilled at sorting lists into alphabetical order.
