Pronouns

There are two types of pronouns: your regular everyday pronouns and your possessive pronouns:

POSSESSIVE: your, my, his, her, its, their, our

REGULAR: you, I, me, he, her, it, they, we

As you might suspect, possessive pronouns are used to show that something belongs to someone. Here are some sentences containing possessive pronouns (underlined):

Her uncle said that we can go to the party.

My cat just climbed up that tree.

Jill said that her brother is annoying sometimes.

	Their dogs bark too much.

Regular pronouns are used in the place of nouns to which they refer (as is the case with possessive pronouns), but they do not indicate ownership of anything. Here are some regular pronouns underlined in sentences:

Jill said that I should bring a jacket.

Jack said that he will call back at three.

Jane will go to the store and meet you there.
