Rhymes

Here are some sets of words that rhyme:

bat: cat, fat, hat, mat, pat, rat, sat

bake: cake, fake, lake, make, rake, take

bun: fun, gun, nun, pun, sun, run

All these words are made from the same letter patterns and the only difference between each member in each set is the letter the word begins with. These are simple rhymes, but words that rhyme don't have to have the same letter pattern:

fake - steak gun - done do - stew

blue - few pain - Maine	nail - pale

Each pair of words rhymes, but uses a different letter pattern to make the same ending sound.

Some words which have the same letter pattern, do not rhyme:

	DO NOT RHYME:

put - nut grown - down

lone - one push - flush

So, words that rhyme share the same ending sound pattern (but not necessarily the same letter pattern).
