It's easy to think of several words which have the tele- prefix:

	telephone telegraph television

	teletype telecast telecommunication

	telescope telegram telepathy

The tele- prefix has the meaning distant, over, or from. If you think about it most of these words have to do with seeing or hearing something over a long distance.

Here are some of these words and their meanings:

telephone --> a device which sends and receives messages
which can be heard over long distances.

television --> a device which receives audio-visual programs
		       over long distances.

telescope --> a device which allows the viewer to see
objects which are a long ways away as if
		      they were up close.

telecommunication --> communication which takes place over
			      great distances.

telegraph --> a divice which sends written messages over
		      great distances.
