Analogies

An analogy is a comparison between word pairs that have the same relationship. Here are a few examples:


	Nose is to person as snout is to pig.

	Gills are to fish as lungs are to mammals.

	Odor is to nose as sound is to ears.
	  		
These analogies all involve body parts.

Here are some analogies which involve food:


	Celery is to vegetable as wheat is to grain.

	Prunes are to plums as raisons are to grapes.

	Cabbage is to cole slaw as tomatoes are to ketchup.

Analogy puzzles can be a lot of fun to solve. Here's an example:

	Heart is to chest as ________ is to head.

There are probably a couple words that would make sense in this analogy, but most people would most likely agree that this is the best solution:

	Heart is to chest as brain is to head.
