Order Words

Order words are used to help the reader to understand the order in which events occur in a written passage. Here are some of the most commonly used order words:


	before			after			later

	afterwards		first			until

	then			finally			next

	eventually


Commas in Lists

Commas are used to separate items presented in a list within a sentence. Here's a simple example:


  Bart sold apples, peaches, pears, lemons, and limes at his fruit stand.

Sometimes items in the list are made up of more than one word. This can make it a little more difficult to place commas. Here's an example:

  Joe likes seasame seeds, almonds, red cabbage, and ice cream.
