Order Words

Certain words are used to help the reader to understand the order in which events occured in a passage. Read the following short paragraph and pay special attention to the words which are underlined: 


	  Jill ate her dinner. Next she did her
	homework. After that she went to soccer
	practice. Then on the way home from 
	soccer practice she stopped by the store. Finally
	she returned home and watched a movie before
	going to bed.
Here is a list of the words which were underlined in the above short paragraph: 

	next			after			then

	finally			before
These are five of the most commonly used order words.
