Apostrophes
Apostrophes can be used to show that something belongs to someone or
something in some way. When apostrophes are added to singular nouns to show
possession add 's to the end of the noun like this:
the cat's paws Joe's car
Mary's apple the child's toy
When adding an apostrophe to a plural noun that ends with s, you just add
the apostrophe, like this:
the cats' toys the pigs' slop
the boys' game the girls' grades
There are also irregular plurals, like the word children, to which you add
apostrophe-s as you would with a singular noun.
