Compound Words
A compound word is made from two or more shorter words. Here are some
examples:
railroad outside motorcycle
nationwide homesick breakfast
everything fireplace livingroom
The following word is not a compound word:
Why is carpet not a compound word? The reason is that the meaning of carpet
has nothing to do with the words "car" and "pet."
